people are always in need of getting a sufficient amount of daylight . they should also have contact with nature , in designs there are usually large openings allowing a lot of daylight to enter . however this might not respond effectively to the occupants different needs and activities , the user should have more control to adjust the daylight according to his/her desires , our team designed an interactive wall that will not be a barrier between the user and the surrounding environment in terms of daylight , the wall is designed in a way so that each user can create an atmosphere specific to them , panel are interlocked with each other using rails that allow the user to easily adjust to their needs , it creates a strong visual and mental connection between the user and natural exterior elements , most importantly daylight . in this proposal our focus is on psychiatric patients and how to create a more effective daylight environment for them WHY PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS ? Psychiatric hospitals usually suffer from insufficient daylight , specifically hospitals in underdeveloped countries as indicated in the main photo represented in the presentation . in many cases they tend to have a prison environment rather than being a therapeutic , researches shows that daylight helps in lessen depression and fatigue , it also supports being balanced psychologically and creates a healthy daily order by balancing one’s internal clock , furthermore it assists the absorption of in body chemical reactions . a good exposure to daylight lessens patient’s hospital stay time , the goal of our interactive wall is for people to benefit and being more mentally stable by creating a stronger relationship between them and daylight .
